4. New Orleans Pelicans

Who knows what the New Orleans Pelicans are looking to do this season. They had a fun run in the playoffs, making it past the play-in tournament and even giving the Phoenix Suns a run for their money. They did this all with Zion Williamson watching from the bench. He missed most of the season with injuries, and there were rumors of dissension between the star player and his team.

Are the Pelicans trying to make the city look more appealing to Williamson as they work on a possible extension, or are they looking to sell him to the highest bidder? In both scenarios, Donovan Mitchell is an intriguing addition.

Mitchell can either come in and replace Williamson as the star on an up-and-coming roster, or he can come in and compliment one of the biggest untapped potentials in the NBA. Williamson can theoretically be the best player in the NBA if everything goes right. So far, everything has gone wrong. Giving him a legit scorer to take some of the load off might be the best thing for his career and could be a last-ditch effort to keep him in New Orleans.

The Jazz are probably trying to get Herb Jones in any Mitchell trade, but they would do their best to scoff at that ask. They would be willing to give up their first-round pick, which they got in the Los Angeles Lakers trade that sent away Anthony Davis. It is their only first-round pick since they sent their other one to the Charlotte Hornets in the deal that got them Devonte Graham.

They could have the right pieces to make this deal done because they have young players and likely the highest available pick in this year’s draft.
