Game of the Week: Las Vegas Raiders at Denver Broncos
Despite the two teams sharing a division for more than 60 years dating back to their American Football League days, the Raiders and Broncos have seldom been good at the same time. This year could be one of those moments, with both squads projected to fight for the playoffs and in some corners, even the AFC West itself.
Denver is reborn with the addition of Russell Wilson, who should only elevate the games of receivers Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy. Against the Raiders’ lackluster secondary, expect a ton of points to be scored, and for those into fantasy football, a big day.
Yet the Raiders might be able to match, even against Denver’s considerable defense. Las Vegas went for broke this offseason, adding receiver Davante Adams to a unit already featuring slot receiver Hunter Renfrow and tight end Darren Waller. The defense also got a boost with the upgrade from Yannick Ngakoue to Chandler Jones on the edge opposite Maxx Crosby, who earned a nine-figure extension this offseason.
With the AFC West being so competitive, winners of these divisional games are going to have a massive leg up in the race. Denver and Las Vegas figure to be close in the standings, only ratcheting up the importance of their two meetings.
