Game of the Week: Green Bay Packers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Packers and Buccaneers are easily two of the top three teams in the NFC, and they’ll match up down at Raymond James Stadium. Green Bay is trying to get the conference’s top seed for the third time in as many seasons, and beating the Buccaneers would go a long way in securing such a lofty goal.
For the Packers, it’s never been difficult getting to the playoffs, but doing something significant once there has been a chronic problem over the past decade. Two years ago, Green Bay rolled to the NFC title game and then fell short against Tampa Bay despite Tom Brady throwing three interceptions in the second half.
While this game will be highlighted — and billed — as a matchup between Brady and Aaron Rodgers, the real battle will take place in the trenches. Tampa Bay has an injury-riddled offensive line, along with the retirement of Ali Marpet this offseason. The Packers will try to move the 45-year-old Brady off his spot with a combination of edge rusher Preston Smith, and defensive tackle Kenny Clark and rookie Devonte Wyatt.
