Game of the Week: Kansas City Chiefs at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
A rematch of Super Bowl LV, the Chiefs and Buccaneers meet in the same stadium, albeit this time with just a bit less on the line. Incredibly, this is the sixth matchup between Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, with Brady winning three of them and both of the postseason contests.
While this isn’t going to determine many races considering its an interconference battle, it should give us a nice idea of how the two teams match up in what could be a Super Bowl preview. Brady and Mahomes both have terrific offensive lines in front of them and enough weaponry to score 30+ points in a given game. Tampa Bay has the better defense, although Kansas City has a slew of young talent on said side of the ball, while the Bucs are proven but aging.
One matchup to watch will be Kansas City’s offensive line against Tampa Bay’s pass rush. In the Super Bowl two years ago, the Bucs destroyed the Chiefs’ front and eventually, Mahomes. But with Creed Humphrey, Joe Thuney, Trey Smith and Orlando Brown Jr. up front, Tampa Bay will have a tougher time creating pressure and the turnovers that come with it.
