Game of the Week: Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns
The ultimate rivalry. Why you ask? Paul Brown founded both teams, with the Bengals coming in the mid-1960s after Cleveland owner Art Modell fired Brown. Today, it’s Paul’s son Mike Brown running the show, and he’s starting to see real progress from his young team.
After reaching the Super Bowl last year by way of a stunning run, Cincinnati improved this offseason. The offensive line got reinforcements and the defense is one of the more underrated units in the league, led by edge rushers Trey Hendrickson and Sam Hubbard, linebacker Logan Wilson and safety Jessie Bates.
In Cleveland, it’ll soon be a new team following the blockbuster trade for quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson cost the Browns three first-round picks and won’t play until Week 13. Until then, it’s Jacoby Brissett. Can he do enough to give Cleveland a chance of winning against Joe Burrow and Co?
The AFC North is one of the toughest divisions in the league, with the Baltimore Ravens also being a contender for the top spot. If Cincinnati can sweep Cleveland, it’s a major road towards a home playoff game or two.
