Game of the Week: Los Angeles Rams at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
A rematch of one of the greatest fourth-quarter comebacks to fall short. The Buccaneers and Rams are the last two Super Bowl champs, with the latter eliminating the former in their own building last year. Now, both stand as top contenders to once again win it all.
After decades of believing a team needed to be built through the draft, both Tampa Bay and Los Angeles have gone different routes. Each brought in a star quarterback either by free agency or trade, and each has found a litany of contributors through those avenues at other positions as well.
With Tom Brady , he’s entering the season as the oldest quarterback in the game since George Balnda was 45 years old in 1975 for the Oakland Raiders. However, Blanda was mostly a reserve and a kicker by this point of his career. Brady is anything but, leading the NFL with better than 5,300 passing yards last season. He figures to be great again, surrounded by weapons such as Chris Godwin, Mike Evans and Russell Gage on the outside.
If Tampa Bay is going to make another Super Bowl run, taking down the defending champs would be a big step towards securing a first-round bye.
