The Tampa Bay Rays need Shane Bieber more than anyone else

The Tampa Bay Rays keep winning despite only having three true starting pitchers. How is this possible?

Youngsters Shane McClanahan and Drew Rasmussen lead the way with veteran Corey Kluber supplying them with regular starts as well. On the other two days of the week, the Rays have been going with an opener.

This just isn’t sustainable for more than a single spot in the rotation. The Rays have to face the fact that they need Shane Bieber quite desperately to get them through a full year.

There are a lot of benefits to targeting a guy like Bieber. On a rather low salary of $6 million, he’s not exactly going to bankrupt the Rays. The front office in Tampa Bay has worked trades like this in the past with much success. With Cleveland being another team constantly churning out talented pitchers only to sell them off later on, perhaps there are a few minor league pieces their scouts like currently with the Rays organization.

Tampa Bay has a huge challenge ahead of them. To keep up with the New York Yankees and stay ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays, they’re going to need some firepower in the rotation. Try calling the Guardians about Bieber. Just don’t call collect. The Guardians want to save some money, too.
