Most PGA Championship wins in golf history

The 2022 PGA Championship will be played at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

For the fifth time ever, the PGA Championship will be played at a course synonymous with the golf major itself: Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

No other golf course has hosted this PGA Tour event more often than Southern Hills. It has been part of the U.S Open rotation in years past, but this is the golf major it is most closely associated with. Though the PGA is not as prestigious as the three other golf majors, moving it up to second in the annual rotation does wonders for increasing its overall relevance coming after The Masters.

• Jack Nicklaus (5): 1963, 1971, 1973, 1975, 1980
• Tigers Woods (4): 1999, 2000, 2006, 2007
• Gene Sarazen (3): 1922, 1923, 1933
• Sam Snead (3): 1942, 1949, 1951

While several golfers have won multiple PGA Championships, only five have ever won the event three times or more. Walter Hagen and Jack Nicklaus are tied for the most tournament wins all time at five apiece. Tiger Woods is one back of the duo with four wins himself. Golfing legends Gene Sarazen and Sam Snead each had three wins in this major during their illustrious careers.

Tiger Woods PGA Championship wins

As stated above, Woods has won the PGA on four separate occasions. He won it for the first time in 1999 at Medinah Country Club outside of Chicago. Woods repeated the following year at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville. He won his third PGA in 2006 at Medinah. His most recent PGA Championship win came in 2007, which just so happened to be at none other than Southern Hills.

It may be a long shot for him to get it done, but Woods has a chance at history at Southern Hills.
