MLB rumors: 5 favorites to trade for Nationals star Juan Soto

1) MLB rumors: Why the Toronto Blue Jays could trade for Juan Soto
You can never have too much of a good thing. For some more sustained success, the Toronto Blue Jays should be a team eyeing a deal for Soto.
As potent as their offense is on paper, they do have some weaknesses. Matt Chapman is off to a slow start. Right fielder Raimel Tapia is easily replaceable as is Zack Collins, the team’s most regular player to DH for them.
Toronto spent a lot of money this offseason on pitching. They also gave up a lot of assets to acquire Chapman. The club is a nice mix of veterans and young budding stars. Soto seems like he’d fit right in.
From a pure standpoint of splits, the Blue Jays have a notable lack of quality left-handed hitters on the roster. Tapia and Collins are the two with the most plate appearances this year. Amazingly, everyone else is right-handed.
The No. 1 prospect they have right now is catcher Gabriel Moreno who may not be ideal for the Nationals with the presence of Keibert Ruiz. Their No. 2 guy, infielder Orvelis Martinez, should excite them enough to be the top piece in the package.
Any trade involving Soto is going to cost a ton in the form of prospects. Teams should be prepared to give up some of the future for a better present. Fortunately, Soto is the same age as many of those top prospects. Absolutely worth trading for, he’s the kind of guy that can help you win multiple championship before he hits free agency. It’s just a shame for Nationals fans he won’t get a chance to do it for them again.
