3 Boston Bruins players who won’t be back next season: LW Anton Blidh

Blidh was a scratch for all seven of Boston’s playoff games, and 11 of the last 12 regular season contests. He expressed some frustration with that in a conversation with The Athletic’s Fluto Shinzawa (subscription required). He also wondered why he wasn’t allowed to go down to the AHL and play more.

Overall Blidh played 32 games for the Bruins this season, tallying nine points (two goals, seven assists) and 24 penalty minutes, while playing zero games in the AHL. In the last three COVID-impacted seasons, he has played just 49 NHL games and 15 games in the AHL.

Over six NHL campaigns since being a sixth-round pick by Boston in 2013, Blidh has played 70 games for the Bruins with 12 points (four goals and eight assists).

Blidh doesn’t have to deal with any frustration he has with the Bruins anymore, as he’s going to be an unrestricted free agent. It’s also hard to see Boston making much of an effort to bring him back, given his lack of a substantial NHL track record at 27 years old now.
