Red Sox and 3 more MLB teams primed to rebound after slow starts
By Tim Boyle
The Chicago White Sox have already shown signs of turning things around
At 19-19, the Chicago White Sox are right there at .500. It’s not nearly enough for a team built with what on paper looks like a near-perfect team.
Like the Red Sox, this is a club with an unbalanced starting lineup. Tim Anderson and Luis Robert are off to awesome starts. The rest of the club has been dragging its feet. They have some obvious holes to fill. The front office may already regret not bringing in one more bat for the 2022 season.
The real strength of this team will come when the pitchers do their jobs. Michael Kopech has been terrific for them and they are getting a lot from Lucas Giolito and Dylan Cease as well. The White Sox could teach a masterclass on how to build a young rotation through trades. All three were picked up in separate deals over the years. Who needs to draft starting pitching when you can just trade for it?
The White Sox have only one true challenger in their division; the Minnesota Twins. With each game they get against the weaker teams within the American League Central, expect the White Sox to fatten up with victories. First, they’ll need to get through their second straight weekend against the New York Yankees before hosting the Red Sox.
Wins will come for the White Sox. They have to be sure not to play down to their opponent as they did too often in April.
