After winning the second PGA Championship of his career, Justin Thomas revealed the advice that helped lead him to victory.

If you wanted drama in your major golf tournament, the 2022 PGA Championship provided just that. Following an incredible collapse by Mito Periera on the 72nd hole, Justin Thomas defeated Will Zalatoris in a three-hole aggregate playoff to win the PGA Championship for the second time in his career.

After hoisting the Wanamaker Trophy, Thomas credited the advice given to him by Jim “Bones” Mackay that helped lead him to victory on May 22.

Justin Thomas credits Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay’s advice for PGA Championship win

Mackay told Thomas to stop being hard on himself and to think positive thoughts. Because if he did, then good things would happen to him. Considering Thomas won his second major, that was some solid advice by McKay.

Not to mention that Thomas has been critical of himself entering the year, saying that he needed to win more major titles.

Thomas brought on McKay to be his caddie last September after a respite. Prior to that, McKay was the caddie for Phil Mickelson, where he was on the bag for the golfer’s five major championship victories. But, McKay and Mickelson had a nasty breakup back in 2017.

In the three-hole playoff, Thomas edged Zalatoris defeating him by one shot to secure the second major of his career.

When it comes to the 2022 PGA Championship, Thomas will forever remember the advice given to him by “Bones.”
