3) MLB rumors: Minnesota Twins are walking a tightrope with their current rotation

Who knew Chris Archer had anything left in the tank? What about Joe Ryan? The new ace of the Minnesota Twins staff has been amazing along with Bailey Ober.

The Twins had an active offseason and even made two trades for pitchers. Former Reds pitcher Sonny Gray was brought in, and shortly after that, they landed Chris Paddack from the San Diego Padres. Paddack will miss the rest of the season, which leaves an opening for the Twins to go out and make one more deal. Why not call up the Reds and reunite Castillo with Gray?

The Twins haven’t gotten much out of Dylan Bundy so far this season and should also be in the market for some relief help. Acquiring Castillo and possibly moving Bundy or another pitcher to the bullpen can help. Primarily, trading for Castillo would simply raise the talent in their rotation and also give them an arm for next year.

Gray and Bundy already have club options for next year — the latter of which we’ll probably see not get picked up. The Twins, while giving Carlos Correa an opt-out in his contract, shouldn’t be focused solely on this year. The American League Central is a division anyone can take as long as there is an effort put into bettering the roster.
