2. Not moving up in the first round and watching Lions draft Jameson Williams

Losing Adams was rough, but the Packers had the chance to get one of the top wide receivers in the 2022 draft class, which was stacked. The first receiver taken was Drake London by the Atlanta Falcons with the eighth overall pick. Then Garrett Wilson was selected two picks later by the New York Jets. The New Orleans Saints then moved up to the No. 11 spot to take Chris Olave.

The run on wide receivers had begun, and that was the Packers’ opportunity to move up to land Jameson Williams of Alabama. Williams would have been taken much earlier in the draft, but he tore his ACL in the CFP National Championship Game. But when healthy, Williams has electric speed that is nightmarish for opposing defenses.

Green Bay stood pat and took Georgia defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt and linebacker Quay Walker to shore up their defense. That is not a knock on the Packers for selecting both players, because they will both make their defense even better. It is more the fact that the Packers watched as the rival Detroit Lions negotiated a trade with the Minnesota Vikings to move up to the No. 12 spot and select Williams.

The Packers will see Williams twice a season for the better part of his first five years in the NFL. If he becomes the game-changer like he was at Alabama, Green Bay may regret not trading up to select him.
