White Sox trade rumors: Michael Fulmer

If there’s one area of their team the Chicago White Sox definitely need to address, it’s the bullpen. Chicago’s relief corps ranks 13th in the American League in ERA and have allowed the third-most (74) free passes in the league.

Detroit Tigers reliever Michael Fulmer could cure what’s been ailing the White Sox relievers. The right-hander has appeared in 16 games this season and has 14 punch outs to go along with a solid 3.31 ERA over 16.1 frames.

The 2022 season marks back-to-back years that Fulmer has enjoyed some measure of success. The former first-round pick was 5-6 out of the Detroit bullpen in 2021 and posted a very respectable 2.97 ERA.

Fulmer has seen his walks tick up this season. After posting a BB/9 of 2.6 last season, in 2022, the right-hander owns a BB/9 of 4.4. But Fulmer has always done a nice job of keeping the ball in the ballpark and has only allowed one home run all season.

Fulmer has struggled against left-handed batters this season, but has yet to allow single run versus a right-handed hitter. Fulmer is a free agent at the end of the season and shouldn’t cost Chicago too much in terms of a return.
