2. Kyle Hendricks

The 32-year-old starter has been a Cubs fixture since 2014. Hendricks is in the midst of a four-year contract worth $55.5 million set to expire in 2023, while there is a vesting option available for the 2024 season.

Currently, Hendricks is 2-4 in nine games started and 49.2 innings pitched with a 4.89 ERA. He’s given up 49 hits, 27 earned runs, 17 walks, and 10 home runs. He hit three batters by pitch. He has 35 strikeouts so far.

Hendricks uses a four-seam fastball, a change-up, a sinker and a curveball. The fastball averages 87 mph with 90 percent active spin. The change-up averages 80 mph with an 84 percent active spin. The sinker averages 86.7 mph with 83 percent active spin. The curveball averages 73.2 mph with 81 petcent active spin.

Hendricks seems to be struggling mightily this season. Pitching is something that most teams are already needing. It would be curious to see if a change in scenery could help Hendricks. With a year remaining on his contract, it will be curious to see if he does get moved prior to the trade deadline. Hendricks will certainly be shopped as we get closer to the trade deadline. The Cubs will be curious to see what they could get in return for the crafty pitcher.
