25) MLB Power Rankings: Oakland Athletics

The strong start for the Oakland Athletics feels like ancient history at this point. The team is finally piling up losses and things should only get worse once they do say farewell to Frankie Montas.

On future MLB Power Rankings, we should expect Oakland to drop even further. Their early success was something that was unexplainable. The way they have performed over the last month is far more reasonable to the low expectations we all had for this club.

24) MLB Power Rankings: Baltimore Orioles

As low of a spot as this is for the Baltimore Orioles, let’s first praise them. Their bullpen has been really good. They’ve gotten some strong performances from other players, too. Fans of this ball club should be excited for the future.

There’s far more buzz around the O’s ever since Adley Rutschman made his MLB debut. Fans will need to learn how to properly spell and pronounce it. He’s going to be a star. This season will provide fans of this sport with a few sips.

23) MLB Power Rankings: Seattle Mariners

The super-aggressive Seattle Mariners are fading. Another team that started off strong but has now sunken nearer to the bottom, it’s feeling like the Mariners will continue their playoff drought. It’s a shame because they actually did assemble a decent team on paper. The problem may be putting too much trust in their young players and selecting the wrong veterans.

Robbie Ray will not win another Cy Young this season and it looks like Chris Flexen’s success last season might not be sustainable. The Mariners should hold tight, though. Even if they collapse for good, they always have 2023. Then 2024. Then 2025 and so on.

22) MLB Power Rankings: Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs should bounce around a bit on future MLB Power Rankings. Undeniably bad, they do have enough talent to pull off a winning streak or get completely blasted. They have already won a game 21-0 this year and dropped one to the Reds 20-5.

Some of the team’s best trade pieces aren’t so enticing because of their performance. Wade Miley might indeed be the best asset they can move at the deadline given the strong need around the league for starting pitching. The Cubs put together a makeshift roster in the offseason capable of winning 81 games if all went well. All hasn’t and they look like one of the league’s weaker clubs.

21) MLB Power Rankings: Colorado Rockies

Kris Bryant looks like a wasted signing for the Colorado Rockies. He has been hurt and not quite himself when he was able to take the field. The brief period of competitive baseball they played seems to have come and gone.

Their best hitter this season has been C.J. Cron and their best pitcher is Chad Kuhl. This is not a winning recipe and it shows in the standings.
