Rory McIlroy didn’t hold back on his thoughts about Dustin Johnson and the LIV Golf London field.

The best PGA Tour player to give interviews is hands down Rory McIlroy, and his most recent comments prove that.

On Tuesday, the field for the LIV Golf London went live, and one of the names on the list was former world No.1 and 2020 Masters champion Dustin Johnson.

Mcllroy, of course, got asked about the field on Wednesday during his interview period, and his one-liner was epic.

The field isn’t anything to jump up and down about, and it’s a classic McIlroy line and one that tells us he could care less about it. Even with Johnson in the field, he didn’t see it fit to complement it.

Rory McIlroy unimpressed by LIV Golf field for London, even with Dustin Johnson

McIlroy knows how important it is to be a member of the PGA Tour, and with him elected for a three-year term as the PGA Tour Player Advisory Council Chairman, he knows how to play the system.

He isn’t going to support the LIV Tour, and McIlroy sure isn’t going to give any of the players who jumped ship credit for doing it. Even the ones on the council with him, like Graeme McDowell, are in the LIV field.

McIlroy is one of those players who want to go up against the most challenging fields each week, and he loves golf so much that added money doesn’t interest him. Even if some of his European Ryder Cup teammates are in the LIV field, McIlroy is one of the most loyal on Tour.

His comments may not mean anything to some people, but reading between the lines, it’s a bold, we don’t care kind of statement. McIlroy isn’t giving this Tour the time of day, and they know it’s a shot in the dark to get him to join.

He proved that on Wednesday with his public comments, and if they ever want to get him, the field will have to improve because he is still chasing that career grand slam and even more wins on the Tour.
