3) Houston Astros bench coach Joe Espada

Joe Espada is much like Matt Quatraro in that he is a bench coach for a progressive thinking organization in the Houston Astros.

Espada, 46, has also been a coach for a number of places in the majors, including the Marlins (2010-2013), the Yankees under Joe Girardi (2015-17), and the Astros (2018-present).

While with Houston, he has been their infield coach as well, where players like Jeremy Peña, Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, Yuli Gurriel, and Alex Bregman have flourished defensively.

Like with Quatraro, the Mets and A’s interviewed for their managerial vacancies this past offseason and he has interviewed with the Cubs and Rangers before as well.

4) Former Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia

If the Phillies are looking for managerial experience, Mike Scioscia could be their guy.

Scioscia, 63, managed the Angels from 2000 through 2018 after he played and coached for the Dodgers in the majors and managed in the minor leagues. Most recently, was the manager for Team USA in the Olympics.

While he would likely be similar to Girardi, he is a Philadelphia native (from Upper Darby, PA, which is about 20 miles from Citizens Bank Park) so that could be an intriguing fit.
