Chris Archer, Minnesota Twins

While Archer has taken a dive from where he was in previous seasons, he is currently 0-2 in 10 games started with the Twins. He has a 3.89 ERA with 39.1 innings tossed and 32 strikeouts. While the Twins may be using him in a piggyback situation, it would be interesting to see how he would fare in a scenery change.

Archer primarily uses a slider followed up with a four-seam fastball, a changeup, and a curveball. While this number has dropped, Archer is primarily a ground ball-inducing pitcher. Typically, he induces 44.5% grounders, this season he has 36.4% ground ball outs.

Archer could easily become a project for Maddux as he would assuredly direct him to use more of his offspeed pitches. Archer could easily find success this way with Arenado, Edman, Goldschmidt, Bader, and O’Neill behind him.

Archer would provide a good veteran arm and could find success in St. Louis.
