According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, Jazz Chisholm was the “subject of criticism” during a Miami Marlins team meeting.

The Miami Marlins have not had the best of starts to the 2022 season. That is when fans heard that the Marlins held a 90-minute team meeting ahead of their June 7 game against the Washington Nationals. There are now details about said meeting, and star player Jazz Chisholm was a topic of discussion.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, Chisholm was the “subject of criticism” by his teammates during the meeting. One person who Heyman spoke to compared Chisholm to former Chicago Bulls star Dennis Rodman.

Jazz Chisholm reportedly ‘subject of criticism’ in Marlins team meeting

“Jazz is like Dennis Rodman,” the person told Heyman. “He will always be a lightning rod. But he works and plays hard.”

Heyman notes that the person who said the above quote suggested that teammates may be “jealous” of Chisholm.

Manager Don Mattingly suggested that the team could come out of the meeting flat for their game against the Nationals. The thing is, the Marlins won their next three games to complete the series sweep. In fact, Miami outscored Washington 21-7.

As for how Chisholm performed in the Nationals series, he went 4-for-13 and recorded six RBI. Two of those hits were home runs that took place in the June 7 game!

Miami’s second baseman is on pace to have a career year with the Marlins, and they are only two months into the season. Through 45 games, Chisholm is slashing .255/.311/.527 while recording 10 home runs, 37 RBI and 42 hits. In fact, he already leads the league in triples with four.

For those of you who were wondering what was talked about during the Marlins meeting, Chisholm was among the topics.
