1. The Nationals could trade Victor Robles at the deadline.

This might be a bit unorthodox, but could also yield a nice return for the Washington Nationals. The aforementioned players like Josh Bell, Nelson Cruz, and Yadiel Hernandez are all on the wrong side of 30 or free agents at the end of the season. Victor Robles is neither.

Robles was the Nationals top prospect at one time, and while he finished sixth in the NL Rookie of the Year voting back in 2019, Robles has never become that top-flight star that everyone expected. The 25-year-old has yet to even go to the All-Star Game.

But Robles is enjoying a bit more success at the dish this season and he’s always been a fine defender. A team who needs help in center field may look at Robles as a possible platoon player in the outfield.

Victor Robles is making a modest $1.65M this season and is under team control 2024. Adding a player like Robles to a contending roster would give that team a skilled defensive outfielder with experience on the biggest stage of them all. Teams looking for depth in their outfield could give Nats’ GM Mike Rizzo a call.
