2. Dyson Daniels

Daniels is a bit of a unique player as a big wing who excels with the ball in his hands but lacks quality athleticism for the position. The Cavaliers are one team that should be interested in taking a big swing on his unique skill set.

The Australian native has shown flashes of brilliance this season in the G-League. He’s already a high-level passer and cutter. Those skills could really help open up Cleveland’s half-court offense. Pairing another elite passer with Mobley and Garland could make this team really hard to guard.

The question on Daniels, like several other wings projected to go in this area of the draft, is whether or not he can develop enough of a jump shot to be respected from the three-point arc. Daniels is never going to grow into a plus-shooter but he already innately understands how to make up for that deficiency. That means he can be a valuable role player even if his perimeter shot never comes around.

It’s going to take Daniels a little time to figure out how to fit in with elite players at the NBA level but he’s got the basketball intelligence to make things work. He’d be a solid pick for the Cavaliers at No. 14 even if he’s an unusual archetype at the wing position.
