2) Giants prospect to trade for Willson Contreras: Hunter Bishop

The Giants have a couple of notable outfielders within their top 30 prospects. Hunter Bishop, ranked at number 8, is one they can afford to trade away. He has an MLB ETA of 2023 as well.

Another first-round pick by the Giants, he was taken tenth overall in the 2019 draft. Bishop has played mostly center field in the minor leagues, which is definitely a bonus.

The Giants do, however, have three outfield prospects ranked ahead of him. All are younger. For this reason, he becomes the one they should be most willing to trade away in favor of going for a championship this season.

Bishop has not hit well since his 2019 debut. Through 399 professional plate appearances, he is a .210/.350/.367 hitter with only 11 home runs. He missed significant time last season with a shoulder injury and is on the downswing rather quickly since joining the Giants organization.

The injury could deter the Cubs in trade talks. However, last year, they were willing to trade Javier Baez and Trevor Williams to the New York Mets for their 2020 first-round draft pick, Pete Crow-Armstrong. He had also been shut down for the year with an injury of his own. Given their recent history of not balking at such a deal, Bishop might still be someone for them to look at.

Paired with a lesser pitching prospect, Bishop could be the main prospect headed to the Cubs in exchange for Contreras.
