2) Shohei Ohtani trade rumors: Yankees

There is probably someone on hold with one of the New York sports radio stations with a trade for Shohei Ohtani in mind. It would, all hypothetical of course, center on sending Gleyber Torres/Anthony Volpe/Jasson Dominguez (one or a combination of the three) to the Angels for Ohtani. It would be like Alex Rodriguez for Alfonso Soriano all over again. A couple of prospects would get added into this trades, too. Specifically, the Angels would snatch up at least one pitcher.

Ohtani on the New York Yankees feels too natural. If he ever did become available in free agency or in a trade, you better believe they’ll line up in the queue to make it happen.

The Ruth comparisons should already have Yankees fans dreaming of the endless possibilities. On their current roster, however, it might mean a lot more of Giancarlo Stanton playing the outfield. Ohtani serves a team best as a starting pitcher and a DH.

The short porch at Yankee Stadium in right field would be peppered with Ohtani home runs regularly. Fans would go absolutely crazy for him. His reach as an international star, now on the most popular team in the world, would be unmatched.

Plus, if the Yankees were to let Aaron Judge walk in free agency, we could all start comparing the two. Sports talk radio would never be the same again. The larger-than-life superstar pitcher/slugger would be joining the game’s greatest team and possibly open himself up to a baseball heel turn in the process.
