1. Ja Morant — April 26, 2022

It’s a critical Game 5 of the first-round series between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Memphis Grizzlies. Once again, we are at the FedExForum in Memphis, home to four of the top 10 power dunks of the playoffs.

The series is tied 2-2, but the Grizz are down by 13 points to the T-Wolves as the final seconds of the third quarter tick down. Ja Morant and the Grizzlies have the Wolves right where they want them.

Off a Brandon Clarke high screen at the logo, Ja takes off for the basket. All five T-Wolves defenders converge to surround him. That doesn’t stop Ja from doing his thing, not by a long shot.

Two dribbles from the logo is all it takes for Ja to get to his launch pad at the dotted line. Malik Beasley steps up and acts like he’s going to take a charge, but Ja already has the sledgehammer of all sledgehammers cranked back as soon as he lifts off. Ja soars up and over Beasley, and he brings down the power with a force that will reverberate for generations to come.

The Memphis home crowd goes ballistic while Ja is just chillin’, as cool and calm as ever.

It’s a classic call from Ian Eagle: “OHHHH! A Ja breaker!!!!!”

(Color commentator Jim Jackson must have already left for his end of the third quarter bathroom break, considering that we don’t hear a peep out of him.)

Bird is correct in saying, “If there is anything that will get this crowd roaring at the Grizzlies den, it is Ja Morant on the full extension!”

The Grizzlies would go on to outscore the T-Wolves by 13 in the fourth quarter and win by two points. Do we even need to remind you of who hit the game-winning layup?
