3. Spencer Dinwiddie — April 21, 2022

It’s the same Game 3 of the first-round series between the Mavs and Jazz as aforementioned in Donovan Mitchell’s No. 5 playoff power dunk. Except it’s the third quarter for this one. And yet, the Mavs have a 13-point lead all the same.

Jalen Brunson brings the ball up the court and swings a pass over to Spencer Dinwiddie at the top of the key. The Jazz defense, as they are oft to do in the playoffs, appears out of sorts. There is nobody within a country mile of Dinwiddie. Rudy Gobert is shuffling down in the paint, trying to figure out who to guard. Dinwiddie is undaunted by the sight of Gobert, the Stifle Tower and 3-time Defensive Player of the Year. In fact, Dinwiddie drives straight downhill to attack him.

It doesn’t help that Gobert was in scramble mode, but you would still give Gobert the advantage in a situation at the rim vs. Spencer Dinwiddie, right? Wrong! Dinwiddie skies up and over Gobert, who is barely able to get off the ground before Dinwiddie uses him to climb even higher and yam it down in his grill. There is also a foul called, And-1.

Dinwiddie is as cool as the other side of the pillow, dapping up his teammates like it’s business as usual, ready to shoot his free throw.

Another fantastic call from Spero Dedes: “Here comes Dinwiddie! Cocking it back, a TITANIC finish from Dinwiddie!!”

Grant Hill adds on the replay: “Wow, I didn’t know he had that in him. And I’m sorry I doubted that!”

(While this was still a “Surprised to See Ya!” dunk from Dinwiddie, it was not his first visit to Power Dunk City, having thrown down a big-time jam on Tobias Harris in Dec. 2019. You might notice Richard Jefferson delivers a familiar “Whose baby is that!?” line, the same exact line featured in KAT’s No. 8 playoff power dunk.)
