3 Yankees trade rumors they should turn into reality

2. Yankees trade rumors to turn into reality: Andrew Benintendi
Andrew Benintendi rumors have been swirling since the moment it was very clear the Kansas City Royals wouldn’t be going far. Nobody really expected them to do all that much this year. They’re living up to those poor expectations and on their way to finishing with maybe the worst record in Major League Baseball.
They do have one of the better trade candidates out there with Benintendi. A free agent after this year is over, he’d give the Yankees the exact opposite of what they hoped to get from Joey Gallo.
The Yankees do have a need to upgrade the outfield even with Aaron Judge doing enough for two men. Benintendi is a good fielder, high batting average hitter, and a left-handed swinger who could even see his power numbers soar thanks to the short porch in right field.
Remember most for the five years he spent with the Boston Red Sox prior to the 2021 season, most of his power comes in the form of doubles. Twice he topped 40 while in Boston. Only once, back in 2017, has he even reached 20 home runs in a single year.
Benintendi is a reliable hitter who can reach base at a nice clip. He’s far different from many of the other players the Yankees have brought in during recent seasons, maybe matching DJ LeMahieu’s skills the most.
