Braves: 3 trades to help replace injured Ronald Acuña Jr.

3) Braves trade option to replace Ronald Acuña Jr.: Randal Grichuk
Randal Grichuk isn’t taking advantage of playing half of his games at Coors Field this season. The Colorado Rockies outfielder is batting only .249/.295/.373 in his first 234 trips to the plate. Could it be that he just needs a change of scenery to start hitting again?
Grichuk is very different from the two other replacement options on this list. He is a lifetime .246/.293/.466 hitter but he does have an average of 28 home runs and 81 RBI per 162 games. He would definitely give the Braves the kind of power they lose while Acuña is sidelined with an injury.
Under contract for another $10.3 million next year with some incentives, Grichuk might be easily acquired if the Rockies view him as a salary dump option. They just landed him back in March in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays. Considering their spot in the standings and few signs of an immediate turnaround before he reaches free agency, it might be wise to move on from him.
Grichuk fits closely into the mold of players the Braves went out and added before last season’s trade deadline. He could start for a while but also slide in as a depth piece behind some other options.
There aren’t a whole lot of really good outfielders we can expect to get traded this summer. Grichuk is one of the better ones. Consider him this year’s Jorge Soler for the Braves.
