Terence Steele can solidify himself as the Cowboys’ answer at right tackle

One of the aforementioned key departures for Dallas this offseason was last year’s starting right tackle La’el Collins, a player who proved to be extremely valuable when on the field but was too expensive in the eyes of the front office as the Cowboys eyed cost-cutting measures. Now, he’ll help protect Joe Burrow in Cincinnati.

Though the club drafted Tyler Smith out of Tulsa in the first round to eventually suit up as a tackle (at least from the assessment of most analysts) down the road for this team, they seem likely to slot him in as a guard this year and roll Terence Steele opposite of Tyron Smith at the tackle spots.

Steele saw some spot work as a late-round rookie out of Texas Tech in the 2020 season and looked the part of a Day 3 selection. He was bullied often and it didn’t look great for his NFL future. However, Steele made obvious strides last season as he was asked to fill in for Collins and Smith at various moments.

Given the improvement we saw from year one to year two, there could be another leap in performance for the former Red Raider, particularly showing more consistency and keeping the offensive line as a strength in Dallas.
