Astros: Yordan Alvarez makes MVP statement against Yankees

Yordan Alvarez hit a missile of a home run on Thursday, but was mostly quiet in the final three games, finishing the series 3 for 12 with all three series RBI coming on the home run.

Alvarez is having a fantastic season, with numbers in the 100th percentile of MLB for xwOBA, xBA and xSLG, while being in the 99th percentile for Average Exit Velocity, Max Exit Velocity and HardHit%.

Judge rightfully gets his due in the Big Apple, but you may be surprised to find out Alvarez actually hits a higher percentage of balls harder than the Yankee center fielder.

The Astros won two games without much of anything from Yordan, but Alvarez has 162 game averages of .295/.378/.592 with 45 home runs, 130 RBI and a .970 OPS (160 OPS+) in his career and an OPS+ of 198 this season.

History says you aren’t going to keep Alvarez down forever and when he is on the Astros are difficult to beat.
