Outfielder/first baseman Jake Bauers (New York Yankees)

Like with Zimmer, Jake Bauers had been with Cleveland for a few years but could not hit well in the majors.

In 160 games with Cleveland in the majors, he hit .218/.305/.352 with an OPS+ of 73 and an rWAR of -1.1. They traded him to Seattle in June 2021 and he posted similar numbers.

In 2022, he has spent the entire season at the Triple-A level between the Cincinnati Reds and the New York Yankees, who acquired him earlier in June.

He has combined to hit just .151/.294/.259 in 43 games at Triple-A in 2022 so barring a number of catastrophic injuries for the Yankees, Bauers won’t and shouldn’t be seeing any time in the majors this season.

Bauers was MLB.com’s #64 overall prospect entering the 2018 season so he definitely has not panned out for the Guardians or any other team. There’s a reason why they are prospects, though. They are much different than proven talents.
