3. Guillermo Heredia will not be on the Braves roster after the trade deadline

Guillermo Heredia appeared in 120 games for the Atlanta Braves in 2021, but his playing time has been drastically reduced this season. With top outfield Michael Harris II on the scene, the Braves may not need Heredia’s services for much longer.

Heredia does have a minor league option remaining, so there’s always a chance that Atlanta just sends the 31-year-old to Triple-A Gwinnett. But outside of his defense, there’s no real reason for the front office to keep Heredia on the roster.

This will become especially true as those players currently on the Injured List return. The team may need his spot on the 40-man roster for the likes of Kirby Yates, Ozzie Albies, and Mike Soroka, all of whom are currently on the 60-day IL.

The Atlanta Braves have depth in the outfield. With Michael Harris asserting himself as the future in center field, Atlanta can afford to cut ties with Guillermo Heredia before the MLB trade deadline. Will he be optioned to the minors or designated for assignment? That may greatly depend on those players returning from injury.
