The Yankees bullpen has been phenomenal as their 2.71 ERA is the best in the sport but as baseball fans know well by now, you can never have too much pitching and Jorge López would provide their bullpen with more depth.

He was awful for the Orioles in 2021 and he was primarily a starter. López was 3-14 with a 6.07 ERA in 33 games (25 starts).

In his first full season as a reliever, López has made 33 appearances with 13 saves and he has a 1.22 ERA with a 0.86 WHIP as their closer.

He allowed his first home run of the season on Friday night and he is only allowing 4.4 hits per nine innings, which is less than half of the rate that he had in 2022.

He has two more seasons after 2022 before he becomes a free agent and if he keeps his 2022 season going this year and beyond, he could help replace Aroldis Chapman, Chad Green, Zach Britton, Miguel Castro, and Lucas Luetge, all of whom are in the Yankees bullpen right now.
