Justin Thomas said what most people wanted to after Talor Gooch’s ridiculous Ryder Cup statement.

During the LIV Golf Portland event, Talor Gooch compared that event’s atmosphere to the hallowed Ryder Cup, which is absurd, but thankfully Justin Thomas put him in his place.

Thomas is a two-time President’s Cup and two-time Ryder Cup participant, so he knows what the atmosphere is like at those events.

You know who doesn’t — Gooch, who claims to know what it is like, but he hasn’t been on any Ryder Cup or President’s Cup team, so how would he even know?

Maybe he was paid an extra $200,000 to say that and ruffle some feathers, but it made him look ridiculous. What is even worse about this moment is when he said it in front of two Ryder Cup members, and they didn’t stop him. Dustin Johnson didn’t have the guts to correct him, which hit a nerve.

Even Patrick Reed had the audacity to agree with him, but that is another issue for a time we don’t have. No one needs to give him that time of day.

Justin Thomas made sure to let Talor Gooch know he is out of his league with his Ryder Cup comment

During a media event this week, Thomas got asked about the comment, and what he said was the best and most polite mic drop.

Gooch tried hard to promote the LIV Golf event to help future events probably, but it was a poor effort.

The Portland event had a lot of fans out there, but to compare it to something like a Ryder Cup is the ultimate golf sin.

No one in their right mind would compare a secondary tour’s event to the historic team event that produced some of the best moments in golf. Thomas painted a picture about 10,000 fans being on the first tee and how it made him so nervous. He was shaking.

Now that is a Ryder Cup atmosphere, not whatever the Portland LIV Golf event was, and, sadly, Gooch thought it was funny to say what he did.

Thank goodness someone like Thomas said what he did because Gooch needs to know he was wrong. Too bad he won’t find out because he left the PGA Tour for LIV Golf, which was his choice.
