Brock Bowers must right a wrong and take the Mackey back to Athens, Dawg!

This never had to be this hard, but here we are. Trey McBride may have had a sensational career catching passes in the Mountain West for the Colorado State Rams, but Brock Bowers should have won the Mackey, an honor he was not even a finalist for. Bowers might only be entering his true sophomore season in 2022, but this elite tight end from Wine Country is an absolute … DAWG!

His rapport with Bennett is simply undeniable at this point. Factor in this being a great year for offensive coordinator Todd Monken to prove he is ready to lead a major program of his own, and Georgia is poised to 14 personnel SEC defenses to death, one after another. Wait, 14 personnel?! Georgia has four tight ends it can play in Bowers, Oscar Delp, Arik Gilbert and Darnell Washington.

Ultimately, Bowers will once again be the focal point of the Georgia passing game. Delp is only a true freshman, but the same excuse could have been used for Bowers a season ago. Gilbert is the ultimate wild card here, as he could be a first-round pick if he puts it all together this fall. As far as Washington is concerned, you can never put a price on his size. That guy is a freaking mountain!

Look for Bowers to have a sensational sophomore season for Georgia to bring home the Mackey.
