Anthony Davis may finish a lot of games at center for the Lakers, but recent personnel moves make it clear the team intends to start him at the power forward spot. The current battle for the starting five spot looks like an uninspiring contest between Thomas Bryant and Damian Jones.

At the very least, that opens the door for a Summer League center to work his way into that mix. Huff is the big man with the best chance to work his way into the team’s regular-season plans.

The former Virginia standout’s calling card as a pro is his ability to legitimately stretch the floor all the way out to the 3-point arc from the center position. He’s a bona fide stretch 5 in a league that loves to roll that sort of option out on offense.

Predictably, Huff’s struggles come at the other end of the floor. He’s a quality rim protector but he lacks the bulk or athleticism to do much work in space. Even so, he’s a high-effort defender who could be an effective bench option for Los Angeles.

Huff is a long shot to make the Lakers’ roster but he’s a prospect to keep a close eye on if he puts up a high-scoring game in Summer League.
