RB. Michigan Wolverines. Donovan Edwards. Scouting Report. 2. player. 811. Pick Analysis

Look for Donovan Edwards to see his role expand in his second year at Michigan

With former Michigan offensive coordinator Josh Gattis leaving for Miami, look for the Wolverines offense to be a little more conservative this season as water finds its level. Oh, the Wolverines will still try to move the sticks aerially because it is not 1985 anymore. With that in mind, look for Donovan Edwards to be the perfect guy to back up Blake Corum on this Michigan rushing attack.

Edwards was a sought-after recruit coming out of high school. By committing to Michigan, it allowed for him to get early playing time on an ascending team. For the Wolverines to more than hold their own in conference play, the offense will need to be carried by its backfield. The good news is everybody already knows about Corum. Edwards is ready to have his day in the sun now.

Again, Michigan has the pieces to beat most of the teams it faces with a defense-first identity and a ball-control mentality on offense. The Wolverines will lead in most games they will play. Though they may drop a pair to keep them out of College Football Playoff conversations, this is a New Year’s Six team if there ever was one. Edwards will be a reason why Michigan will stay in the mix.

The combination of Corum and Edwards in the Michigan backfield should terrify Big Ten defenses.
