New York Yankees trade target: Joc Pederson

A left-handed outfielder with power. That’s all the Yankees care about when it comes to Joc Pederson. Even if he is a dirty fantasy football player, he might be a spark on the team in the Bronx just as he was for last year’s Atlanta Braves.

Pederson is on a San Francisco Giants club that looks like it’s ready to sink into McCovey Cove. Those doubts many of us had about their sustainability are coming true. Many of their core players like Brandon Belt and Brandon Crawford have underperformed. Pederson has been their best offensive player all year and might easily become a favorite trade target of buyers at the deadline.

The Yankees would be hoping to get from Pederson what they haven’t from Joey Gallo. The all-or-nothing slugger has been the one constant pain on this year’s Yankees club. Adding another outfielder into the mix feels like a necessity at this point.

Based on his history, we could also see Pederson play a little bit of center field if needed. Mostly, he’d be an upgrade for them in a corner spot over the absent season Gallo has produced.

More than maybe anyone else, Pederson is a potential surprise trade candidate just about every team should kick the tires on.
