10 best NBA Summer League players of all time
9. Damian Lillard, 2012 Portland Trail Blazers
The only reason why Damian Lillard is listed this low is because of a small sample size. Yes, he was named MVP of the 2012 campaign, but he only played four games. In those four games, he was incredible. He scored 25, 27, 31, and 23, and also dished out 5 assists per game. His shooting was excellent from everywhere, and the only poor part of his game was his defense, which never really took off.
After an amazing (but short) summer season, it should have been no surprise that he went on to win Rookie of the Year. Putting a player with only four games on the list pains me, but when you average a cool 26.5 points, my hand is forced. Trail Blazers fans rejoiced when Lillard lit up the Summer League, as they finally had a great point guard to pair with LaMarcus Aldridge.
