10 best NBA Summer League players of all time
5. Donovan Mitchell, 2017 Utah Jazz
Mitchell did not win MVP over Lonzo Ball, but I think he should have. While Ball had a remarkable season, Mitchell played one less game but averaged 20 points with more than two rebounds and assists per game. Oh, and he is also the all-time Summer League leader in steals, with a whopping six per game in Las Vegas.
During his 2017 campaign, he set the single-game record with eight steals in perhaps the greatest Summer League game in history.
The only issue? The Jazz lost that game. While Lonzo and the Lakers went on to win the whole thing, the 2017 Jazz team was not that great in the summer, so that could be why Mitchell fell short of MVP.
