1. Quinndary Weatherspoon

Weatherspoon was on a two-way deal with the Warriors last season but his future with the team isn’t certain at the moment. He’s a restricted free agent who is working to nail down his spot with the team via a strong Summer League performance.

The former Spurs’ draft pick’s ceiling as a pro is limited because his offensive game hasn’t developed at a sufficient rate to justify meaningful minutes. Weatherspoon’s athleticism still makes him a quality defender at the 2-guard spot, but he has to work hard to find ways to force opponents to pay attention to him on the offensive end of the floor.

Despite his limited ceiling, Weatherspoon’s proven ability to defend at the NBA level should be enough to earn him another one-year deal with the defending champions. This team has enough offensive stars to afford them an opportunity to devote one bench spot to a one-way defender.

No Warriors fan is going to set off fireworks if their beloved team brings Weatherspoon back on a small deal, but it’s a solid piece of business for a team that wants to add a player who can soak up some regular-season minutes. Weatherspoon has shown enough to merit continuing his NBA career for at least one additional season.
