3) Blue Jays manager replacement for Charlie Montoyo: Eddie Perez

The Atlanta Braves feature a coaching staff with several future manager candidates on it. Considering the success of Brian Snitker as their skipper, those looking to move up may need to depart the organization.

One of those candidates is Eddie Perez. Perez has worked in a few different roles with Atlanta. If interested, he could very much be a candidate for the Blue Jays to consider.

Perez has some experience managing in the Venezuelan Winter League so he wouldn’t be entering the position completely dry. Years of big league baseball working as Greg Maddux’s personal catcher already makes him someone we know has an abundance of baseball intelligence. Maybe he can even pass along some of that knowledge to All-Star catcher Alejandro Kirk.

In addition to Perez, the Braves have Walt Weiss and Terry Pendleton who are considered to be future managerial candidates. Buying fully into the belief that catchers can get thrown into the job and succeed, he’d be a wise choice for the Blue Jays to make.

It also helps that Perez has as much experience winning as anyone else. Both as a player and a coach, winning has formed itself into his DNA. He is most certainly worth an interview after this season if Schneider hasn’t won the job.
