2. MLB monster series: San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers: July 21-24

What could have been a far more important series could feel more like the last leg for one of the teams involved in this series. The San Francisco Giants head down the California coast to visit the Los Angeles Dodgers. A bad series and they could become trade deadline sellers. Some wins and maybe they end up buying as planned.

Regardless of the outcome, games between the Giants and Dodgers are always a thrill to watch. Under the Southern California sky, it’ll be a huge challenge for Gabe Kapler’s team to get off to a strong start for what they’ll have to hope is a better run in the second half of 2022.

The Dodgers will, by this point, hope to have a better idea of what different trade candidates might cost and which ones they should target most. That’ll be the front office’s job while the players stick to the goal of winning games.

If the Giants can manage to sneak away from Los Angeles with a win or two, it may build up enough confidence to signal that it’s worth buying at the trade deadline. A wild card spot is still very much possible for them. These four games will be huge in determining their immediate future plans.
