3. The White Sox need to trade Johnny Cueto

It’s a much different situation with Johnny Cueto than it is Lynn. Cueto joined the White Sox this season. In the face of low expectations, he has risen to the occasion and climbed way over top of even the most optimistic hopes.

Cueto is having a very good run with the White Sox and has emerged as one of the better starting pitcher trade candidates. White Sox fans should be thrilled with what they’ve gotten from him. In a parallel universe, they’re riding him to the postseason.

We live in a different dimension where Cueto has a vintage performance for a below-average White Sox team. That is our reality. As enjoyable as he has been, it’s essential the White Sox deal him to a real contender to help restock for the future.

The White Sox made a lot of poor moves on and off the field in 2022. It started by getting too cocky about the roster. This team put a lot of faith in its young players. Injuries played a factor but so did false belief.

An upcoming belief they cannot buy into is that they have a chance.

Cueto needs to be traded. White Sox fans will always have the wonderful few months at the start of the season. Sometimes it’s not about where you finish in the standings but the unexpected players you root for along the way.
