Cubs fan favorite to trade at the deadline: Kyle Hendricks

Hendricks is another player whose contract expires after this season, leading one to believe the Cubs will seek the opportunity to get something in return for their ace pitcher. But, Hendricks has landed on the injured list and shut down for two to three weeks due to shoulder issues.

Hendricks has definitely had his struggles this season with a record of 4-6 in 16 starts. He has 84.1 innings with a 4.80 ERA. He has 24 walks and 66 strikeouts.

He could definitely benefit from a change in scenery.  Hendricks could make his return from the injured list just prior to the Aug. 2 trade deadline. A team desperately seeking a veteran arm could take a chance on Hendricks and hope for the best.

A team would have to take a gamble and hope for the best in taking him in a trade despite being on the injured list. Taking all of this under consideration, Hendricks and the Cubs could remain connected through the end of the season.
