Juan Soto rumors: The Giants trade package to land him

The best thing that could happen to the New York Yankees is for Juan Soto to get traded to the San Francisco Giants. This may help them to better keep Aaron Judge.

The Giants are a curious team this season. They need a guy like Soto in their lineup even beyond just this season. Their bats are kind of underwhelming. Soto can completely change that. It starts with a trade looking something like this:

Will Bednar, Jairo Pomares, Hunter Bishop, and Manuel Mercedes would be the four other players moved in this deal.

Like some of the other trades proposed, the Giants would take on a bad contract as well. They get to take on Patrick Corbin. It’s not too insane to think that maybe a change of scenery could help him rebound. A few other recent Giants pitchers have looked better joining them. But that’s not the point of this trade. It’s more about putting Soto in the middle of a lineup in desperate need of some power.

Marco Luciano is the absolute headliner in this trade. A top 10 MLB prospect, he would have a chance to be the future starting shortstop for the Nationals. They also add a nice mix of position players and pitchers from a Giants farm system that, like the other teams mentioned above, would soon find themselves with a barren pipeline.

The Nationals could feel a little more inclined to trade Juan Soto to the West Coast if only because they wouldn’t have to deal with him nearly as often. Even with this in mind, it’s not going to be easy for the Giants to acquire him.

Luckily for the Nationals, they can drive up the price for Soto in the NL West between the Dodgers, Giants, and one more team to consider.
