Juan Soto rumors: The Padres trade package to land him

Juan Soto on the same roster with Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. would be exciting. The San Diego Padres can make this happen. Soto is only a phone call away.

What would a deal for Juan Soto potentially look like for the Padres?

The other five players involved would be Luis Campussano, Jackson Merrill, Reiss Knehr, Robert Gasser, and Victor Lizarraga.

The Padres might be less willing than other teams to take on a bad contract from Washington. However, they can still offer a competitive deal that includes all of their top 100 prospects heading to Washington in the deal.

C.J. Abrams feels like a no-brainer in the trade. Now a graduate of MLB Pipeline, he is blocked at shortstop by Tatis Jr. which makes him far more expendable for San Diego to pick up Soto.

One big question that may pop up if a trade like this did occur is how the Padres would handle their payroll going forward. They have been a little unsuccessful at moving contracts over the last year belonging to guys like Eric Hosmer and Wil Myers. To keep up with the Dodgers and Giants, they’ll need to be willing to make risky moves like this.

Juan Soto rumors are just beginning. And even just a glance at each of these trade proposals, we get an early picture of what some of those blockbusters could look like and possibly only begin with.
