Cardinals trade rumors: Tigers reliever Andrew Chafin

Andrew Chafin has also been a great reliever in the Tigers bullpen and he could easily replace Génesis Cabrera since he is a left-handed pitcher.

Chafin has made 33 appearances on the season and he has a 2.22 ERA (176 ERA+). His results have been pretty true as well since he has a 2.33 FIP with a sub-1.000 WHIP (0.953) and an average of 2.9 walks and 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings.

Unlike Fulmer, Chafin could be a bit of a longer-term option. He is only on a one-year, $6.5 million contract for this year but he has a $6.5 million player option for the 2023 season (or a $500,000 buyout).

But that might actually be good for the Cardinals since they have struggled to find a consistent left-handed reliever outside of Cabrera.
