Juan Soto rumors: Mets could trade 3B/1B/OF Mark Vientos

Unlike Brett Baty and Ronny Mauricio, Mark Vientos is actually at the Triple-A level but he is also playing well, meaning that he could easily be in the majors this season.

Vientos, 22, is hitting .255/.339/.498 with 16 home runs and 46 RBI in 66 games.

Defensively, he has only played first and third base this season but he has been far superior at first base. He also has played some left field in recent years as well but, frankly, he might be best as a DH option for the Nationals.

Currently, they have Nelson Cruz as their DH but he could be traded at the trade deadline and if he isn’t, the Nationals will likely turn down their end of their mutual option for the 2023 season.

For the Mets to acquire Soto, they would have to trade even more to the Nationals, especially being in the same division, which is what makes a trade between the clubs extremely unlikely.

However, with Mets owner Steve Cohen, if he truly wants Juan Soto on his team, he will find a way to make it happen.
